Welcome to the Lander Bar!
The Lander Bar is widely known throughout Wyoming and around the world as one of the few bars left that still offer a little bit of the flavor of the Wild, Wild West. Easily the busiest, most popular watering hole in town, the Lander Bar attracts a wealth of locals and tourists alike, and is the anchor around which the Coalter Block restaurant group was formed.
Originally opened as a saloon back in 1908, the bar enjoyed a storied history – serving, among other things, as a hotel, brothel and boarding house – before returning to full-time service as a bar in 1993.
In addition to offering popular brands of domestic and imported beers, the Lander Bar keeps a line of specialty microbrews on tap from the Lander Brewing Company, including local beers that have won national and international awards at the Great American Beer Festival, the World Beer Cup and other competitions.
The bar’s décor is a mix of Western memorabilia that celebrates the culture of cowboys, native Americans, ranchers, climbers, miners, hunters and fishermen; and includes a pool table, a modern jukebox and several big-screen TVs.
On most weekends, the bar offers live music from local and regional bands in the adjoining Gannett Grill space. Check out the Coalter Block Event Calendar to find out about concerts and other special events.
Lander Bar patrons with the munchies can step into the adjoining Gannett Grill and enjoy pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, French fries, onion rings and other bar fare.
In the summer, Lander Bar patrons can enjoy their beers on the Gannett Grill’s spacious outdoor deck – the center of many popular local celebrations, including the International Climbers Festival, the Lander Brew Festival and the Fourth of July.
The Lander Bar works closely with the other four establishments that form the Coalter Block restaurant group – Cowfish, the Lander Brewing Company, the Gannett Grill and the Scream Shack – to offer locals and tourists a selection of dining experiences all year round.
Established originally in 1908, the bar is located on the Coalter Block on Main Street in downtown Lander, between First and Second Streets. Parking is available on the street out front and in a parking lot that runs alongside and in back of the Coalter Block restaurant group.
